First Night in Hogsville

So, since arriving in Arkansas, we've managed to move into an apartment, move out of an apartment, move into a hotel room, move out of a hotel room, and move into a new apartment. And emotionally scar our chihuahua.

The first apartment boasted an exceptional amount of road noise, as it butted right up to the ever-popular I-540 (the one and only main interstate running through NW Arkansas). To amplify the problem, this weekend Arkansas hosted a hootin' hollerin' Hog Rally for all Harley owners this side of the Mississippi. Solid. Apparently Hog Rally Participants like to rev the mufflers at all times of the night.

Because we're not as cool as the hoggers, we moved to The Candlewood Suites at 3am.

Today, we moved into a new apartment that was MUCH quieter but... um... not quite ready for us. The former inhabitants were smokers who clearly were above ash trays, and they didn't like to pay the bills (according to the apartment complex). They also liked to muddy their hands in mysterious goo and smatter fingerprints all over the doors. Mmm. Sometimes they even liked to flood the spare bathroom and play choo-choo boats. The latter part of that statement is speculation.

The apartment complex has offered to put the new apartment in tip-top shape, so things are looking up. And Polski has been sleeping off his parents' indecisiveness for the last 4 or so hours.

That said, we're here with our new address.

You can find us at:

3010 S. 28th Place
Apt. 6
Rogers, AR 72758

We'll post our new home phone number some time this week.

Other thoughts:
Arkansas is hot. Really hot. It was 90 degrees today when we asked our leasing agent if Arkansas is always this hot. She laughed at us--loudly--and said, "Haha. Hahahaha. Hahahahhahahah. It's not even summer yet..." Awesome. Nothing like Sweaty Meghan for a good first impression at the new office.

There's a Target and a gigantic swanky outdoor mall called the Promenade within 2 miles of us. Danger. DANGER.

That's all for now. Love and miss you all already.

Hayley and The Greens on Blossom Way

Hi Guys,

I'm posting some pictures of the apartment we'll be moving into in The Greens on Blossom Way. The main room is a pretty good size and I like the set up of the open kitchen. New black appliances, and newer cabinetry. We've already secured satellite in lieu of cable so we can watch the Michigan games, most importantly (we may have contracted DirecTV before we set up electricity and water). Notice also, Energizer Hay hamming it up as we went apartment hunting. :) The woman in the cobalt blue is our Lindsay & Associates Realtor, Mary Jane Jennings. Three cheers for compound names.

Not in Kansas. Well, kind of.

It's official. We're moving to Arkansas on May 30th, 2009 to be closer to Hayley. And Walmart. But mostly Hayley.

We've wanted to do this for a while now--be closer to Hayley, not move to Arkansas--and a series of events that opened doors for us led us to believe that this was the time to do it.

I've taken a job at CJRW, an advertising agency in Springdale, Arkansas. Their biggest client is Tyson Chicken, but they also do work for the University of Arkansas and TGI Fridays packaged goods. So, buy them. I realize in the past I've asked you to purchase Buicks, lease Fords, donate to Make a Wish, refinance with Quicken Loans and buy NFL Fatheads. But picking up some Tyson's nuggets in your local grocer's freezer seems most reasonable.

We'll be moving to a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment in Rogers, Arkansas. The apartment community is called The Greens at Blossom Way and it boasts ammenities like a 9-hole golf course, pools, sauna, tanning beds, full gym and fresh baked cookies daily. It was between Blossom Way and another apartment community run by super-southerners who said the community's best features were 2 muskrats and a family of geese that inhabit the area.

We'll be within 10 minutes of Hayley's school, Central Park Elementary of Bentonville, and about 15 to 20 minutes away from CJRW. Troy will be looking for positions when we arrive, and we've set the goal of buying a house before December so we can reap the tax benefit for first-time home buyers.

We can't wait for you to visit. Seriously, please visit. We'll take you to Walmart, buy you some nice... Walmart... stuff.

We hope to see you before we go. We hope to document our move and post updates to the blog often.
Hugs and Tumbleweeds,
Meghan & the Fam
